Here is a list of manufacturers you can contact to ask for free samples or coupons. I have contacted a few, and already have received some freebies and coupons. Just make up a generic comment, and change were appropriate to match to the specific product you are contacting about.
When told that all you have to do is ask for coupons and most companies will send them to you, I usually get asked “Well, what do I tell them?” Let’s start with the truth.

If you have a story about their products, tell them. I once contacted a bread company and told them how my son thought their bread was so soft, that it was meant to be a pillow, and he squished it on us. They sent back a letter, saying something along the lines of “We’re very glad to hear that your family loves our bread so much. We are also very sorry that your son squished your bread, but with quality like ours, it sometimes can’t be avoided, therefore, we are enclosing two coupons for a free loaf of bread to replace the one that was damaged. Thank you for contacting us.” It was great, and we all got a good laugh out of it (plus FREE bread!) If you notice my above letter scenario, you will notice that I made sure to put my mailing address in the letter. Many companies will not email you back to ask for your mailing address, but if you put it all out there, they will (most of the time) send coupons. This is how you can get the high value and FREEs. The important thing here is to be uniquely interested, but don’t go making complaints about products that aren’t warranted. I have been told of people calling and emailing companies and making false complaints to get coupons. This is not the way to do things, you can be honest and still get the good stuff!
